Our reckless nature led us here
A species all-consumed by fear
We could not trust ourselves to rule
More satisfied being a tool
For despots, billionaires and swine
Who will not answer for their crimes
Not now, within this barren waste
A rotten tomb where we're encased
The sun still shines but it brings no warmth
When the fire dies...
And if we had another chance
Would we still watch, within a trance
As we destroy ourselves again?
Wanting a change, but don't know when
When to give up our luxury
Everything, a commodity
We all scream inside as we
Succumb to ideology
The rain melts our skin, the regret burns our souls
The sun still shines but it brings no warmth
When the fire dies so will we
Commiserations for the dead, who rest here among us
No way to justify their pain, though rest assured there will be attempts
At our own funeral we mourn, within this storm of dust
Our epilogue to history, will be one full of fear and darkness
The misery echoed through the ages
Their cries resonating forever
So finally we'll be free of anguish
And so it is, our last surrender
