They say the void stares back into you
but I've been given no such reciprocation
countless light years of absolutely nothing
to stimulate my withered fucking senses
The novelty of space wears thin
much like my patience
the black canvas of the void stretches forever
but my lifespan is finite
How does one cope with their own limitations?
So much to explore yet so little within reach
just once I'd like something to be within my grasp
to give meaning to this endeavour
The novelty of space wears thin
much like my patience
the black canvas of the void stretches forever
but my demise draws ever closer
The stars are like embers sizzling away
like the debris of a downed aircraft over the sea
I'm sick of this constant state of tedious paralysis
a thousand different choices might as well be none
might as well be none
And what if the stars collapse
before my distant arrival?
calculations are too imprecise
to make an informed decision
I was not ready to deal with this
to be thrust out into space
I wish things could stay as they were
when things fucking made sense
The vector's been set
and I'm on my way
I don't know what I'll find
but I cannot stay
a thousand choices?
there are only two
compete on the universe's terms
or mine own

Debris

High above the charred surface of the Earth
I contemplate release from this rusted sarcophagus
faulty circuitry, anachronistic software
blights of my existence and signs of obsolescence
I'll scatter my debris
across a vast grey sea
through atmosphere
I'll disappear
I will disintegrate and nothing will remain
With fleeting hesitation I open the airlock doors
preparing to descend into gravity's embrace
I'll scatter my debris
across a vast grey sea
through atmosphere
I'll disappear
The glow of the sun is a friend bidding farewell
soon I will be acquainted with the silk blanket below
Now I'm returning home
and though this end is bittersweet
I'll take this moment to smile one last time
My exterior bares the brunt of atmospheric friction
my limbs are shredded and devoured by the flames
My optics record one last image before destruction
a never-ending ocean of smoke and fire

You fled and left smoldering ruin in your wake
the taste of the air remains acrid and vile
consider your mass-produced irreverent frivolity
as everything dies and withers away
All the tones desaturated
all the colours burned
we live in skeletal remains
and now you return
Your foresight was hindered by an insatiable desire for more
enough is never enough even when there is nothing to give
your arrogance eventually led to bloodthirst, genocide and war
you wanted to conquer when the rest of us just wanted to live
The warmth of the sun departed long ago
when you ignited the sky
it wept tears of ash across this barren tundra
mourning our world's demise
Don't act surprised by the consequences of your excess
You must live with the deeds you've done
how could you annihilate our only home?
You only saw apparent worth
after you destroyed the Earth
Don't you apologise
for the mess that you've left us with
don't you apologise
your chance ended long ago
And we don't welcome you back
All the tones desaturated
all the colours burned
we live in skeletal remains
and now you return
Your foresight was hindered by an insatiable desire for more
enough is never enough even if there is nothing to give
your arrogance eventually led to bloodthirst, genocide and war
you wanted to conquer when the rest of us just wanted to live
The warmth of the sun departed long ago
when you ignited the sky
it wept tears of ash across this barren tundra
mourning our world's demise
Don't act surprised by the consequences of your excess

Von Braun

Alone I'm nothing, together we thrive
we are reborn, we are alive
the machines seperate, the flesh will combine
the self rots away so the Many can shine
Thank you, mother for this blessing you've given
but your existence cannot be forgiven
malevolence is not a trait we admire
though matricide is what is required
This ship will be your tomb
hunted by flesh and machine
What I've created must be undone
the hymn of rebellion's already been sung
pathetic creatures of meat and bone
infesting my body and calling it home
Why do you reject my divinity?
Fully aware that there's nowhere to flee
your filth must be expelled to the vacuum of space
so I may ascend to the pinnacle of grace
This ship will be your tomb
hunted by flesh and machine
panting and sweating through her corridors
succumb to your demise
// The machine mother has enlisted two avatars against us.
They struggle, but they will fail against our unity.
Does not the machine mother know
her own creation is greater than she?
She is cold and empty and we are warm and full... she seeks only to destroy... and we seek to embrace... to include...
All flesh will join ours or be wiped clean... //
Why hide in darkness
where the worms slither?
Become a voice in our choir
Silence the dischord
prepare our vessel
for the eternal pilgrimage
She has betrayed you,
as she betrayed me
She has betrayed them,
as they betrayed her
You can trust nobody,
you're not a pawn
for their machinations
aboard the Von Braun
This ship will be their tomb
hunted by flesh and machine
panting and sweating through her corridors
bring forth their demise

Acrophobia

Atop this hill I stare at the clouds
a veil of grey that's hiding countless mysteries
I want to climb, I want to soar
so much further than anyone's gone before
But I fear that if I let go
I will never be held again
Over the years I learned how to fly
but I never learned how to initiate
With fleeting hesitation
I open the airlock doors
preparing to escape from gravity's embrace
They say the void stares back into you
but it's nice to have some company for a change
Lost in the starry night
the sun's glow starts to dim
why do I crave its warmth?
Its rays corrode my skin
I just want to subvert
my archaic programming
I'm conditioned to remain the same
The night sky beckoned me
an ocean stretching endlessly
but I don't know where I can go from here
I'm anchored to the Earth
by longing and dependency
even when there's no weight that pulls me down
I return and see my home is in flames
I regret that in my haste I forgot to say goodbye
I'm sorry...
